Ribbon Boards

Requirements

• Cabinet must be installed directly against the wall
• No access from the rear
• Top of the cabinet will be exposed and within reach of the audience, must have protection and be waterproof in case of spillages
• Can be very long and create a full ring all around the stadium

Perimeter Boards

Requirements

• A perimeter board is very close to the players, so there are some special safety requirements to take into consideration
• The LED screen has to be able to take a direct strike from the ball without any visible effect
• There is also the possibility that a player could collide with the screen
• A perimeter screen needs to offer the player protection and they do this with the addition of soft rubber padding and a soft rubber mask on the front
• A perimeter screen creates an unbroken wrap on 3 sides of the pitch, this can cause an issue in an emergency situation as generally the pitch is used as part of the evacuation route, to enable this to happen, perimeter screens have folding sections known as gates, that can be dropped flat and give the supporters a safe route on to the pitch

UEFA Specification Perimeter

When a club hosts a UEFA Champions league or Super League match, the stadium must operate under the UEFA guidelines.

Part of these guidelines regulate the type and operation of the perimeter screens.

We have a model that is specifically designed to meet the UEFA requirements.

Available for special order, this 10mm pixel pitch cabinets provides the specialist data redundancy and power management features required. UEFA issue a comprehensive specification that must be met before the system can be used during a UEFA game.

There is more to operating a UEFA perimeter than just buying the correct cabinets.

UEFA has a huge document that stipulates every possible factor that they want controlled.

This includes the operation and installation of the perimeter.

This is because UEFA sell an advertising media package and need to guarantee that the perimeter will be operational and the content will be visible at all times.

Remember, the perimeter is on camera for the whole match.

Making sure that the viewing angles are correct for all of the camera positions is quite tricky. We have to design a layout that is both practical and UEFA compliant.

We have to angle some of the cabinets to ensure that the cameras on the 16 yard lines can always see an image.

Once the perimeter is installed it is tested by the UEFA consultant and the install is then certified as an official UEFA system, the certification is specific to that stadium install and is not transferable.

Fan Zones

Many clubs try to extend the visiting time for supporters with access to a Fan Zone.

In the fan zone the supporters are entertained before and after the match, there will be music and a variety of food concessions.

These Fan Zones also offer an opportunity of an Outdoor LED display. Pre-match footage and team info will be shown, with game highlights shown afterwards.

Requirements

• Fan zones would usually require a smaller pixel pitch display in order to create a display that is suitable for showing standard TV style content.
• The smaller the screen, the smaller the pixel pitch would need to be.
• For a high quality picture we would look to be approaching Full HD resolution, 1920 x 1080 pixels.

Requirements

• In these applications LED is used in 2 primary ways, internally in place of and LCD video wall or as an external facing advertising screen.
• The technology for an outward facing screen is the same as if the screen was installed on the outside of the building. So we also have a crossover into our Digital Out of Home vertical.
• In these applications we are less concerned with having the super high levels of performance and reliability that is needed inside the bowl of the stadium and can use a more cost effective grade of product.
• Space can be a big issue, so a slim cabinet helps, as does it being light weight as it will reduce the space taken up with a support frame.
